Accurate mass |
---|
An experimentally determined mass that is can be to determine a unique elemental formula. For ions less than 200 u, a measurement with 5 ppm accuracy is sufficient to determine the elemental composition. |
Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission |

- Isotopes have unique precise masses, a consequence of which is that the elemental composition of any molecule, or fragment of one, can be calculated from its mass if this is sufficiently accurately determined.??????????????
- Measured Accurate Mass: the experimentally determined mass that allows the elemental formula to be deduced. Not to be used to indicate the calculated mass.
