High energy collision
From Mass Spec Terms
DRAFT DEFINITION
High energy collision
---
High-energy collisions are typically in the keV range and occur in sector and hybrid instruments. The ion excitation is mainly electronic, corresponding to a vertical electronic transition. This energy is redistributed as vibrational energy, which can lead to simple bond cleavage.
Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission
This is an unofficial draft definition presented for information and comment.
