DRAFT DEFINITION
Hydrogen/deuterium exchange

A technique used for exploring the conformational structure of analyte by means of the surface accessibility with a deuterated reactant. The deuterium-labeling reaction is carried out either in the gas-phase inside a mass spectrometer or in the solution-phase prior to introduce the sample into a mass spectrometer.

Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission
This is an unofficial draft definition presented for information and comment.
