DRAFT DEFINITION
Nanoelectrospray

This term is used to describe the electrospray interface which achieves a reduction in the sample flow rates (usually less than 100 nL min-1). The reduced flow rate is due to a narrower inner diameter of the needle tip (usually 1-3 ?????????????m) and is established automatically, dependent on the potential on the needle tip. See also electrospray ionization and microelectrospray.

Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission
This is an unofficial draft definition presented for information and comment.
