Capronym

A capronym is a portmanteau of capitalization and acronym.

Often a writer thinks that words used in an acronym should be capitalized, for example matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) is written as "Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization" even though it is not a proper noun.
