DRAFT DEFINITION
Reference ion
A Stable Ion whose structure is known with certainty. These ions are usually formed by direct ionization of a neutral molecule of known structure, and are used to verify by comparison the structure of an unknown ion.
Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission
