{{DefName|
{{Final
Fragmentation of an odd electron ion that results from the pair of electrons that form a bond to the atom at the apparent charge site moving to that atom while the charge site moves to the adjacent atom. Fragmentation results in the formation of an even electron ion and a radical. The movement of the pair of electrons is symbolized by a double-barbed arrow. This term is synonymous with heterolysis.
